Happy One Year Anniversary!

We would like to highlight the wonderful work of Cherry Hill School District, who is hosting a PD from IHI on Feb 17, 2023 @ 8-3pm for all high school social studies teachers. It will include informational scope and sequence as well as work sessions to create lesson plans. AAEP will be doing a full day PD, same day, for middle school ELA and social studies teachers with a focus on the historical scope and sequence and its impact on AAPI memoir and literature. They are also undergoing a 4-session consultation for all middle school ELA teachers with staff from the University of Pennsylvania in critical literacy. This work will support the integration of contemporary pieces into their curriculum with support and understanding of hot topic issues. The high school English teachers will participate in the same work on February 17. They will all be looking at their current booklists and identify– what to look for, formulating rationale of importance, handling sensitive pieces together. All of this will assist in the creation of a new AAPI Studies ½ year course that has been added to their course of study for the 2023-2024 school year.

We owe thanks to so many for working together to get the AAPI Curriculum bills passed last year. Here is a partial listing of our wonderful partners.

In addition to our collective accomplishment of getting the AAPI Curriculum bills passed, the relationships that formed as a result of working together are still bearing fruit in beautiful and unforeseen collaborations. We are so grateful to be allies with you all!
